Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take orders or do commissions?

Yes to both.

If something you want is out of stock in the shop, you can contact me and place an order. These generally take 2-4 weeks to complete.

If there is something bespoke that you are after, I am really happy to discuss commissions. Just get in touch and we can talk about what you want, price, etc.

I am constantly creating and uploading new stock to my website and will send out updates through my social media. But if you prefer, you can also join my mailing list.

Can I buy your work from a shop near me?

I sell some of my work through the Quarry Arts Centre and the Hangar Gallery (both in Whangārei). From 2025 I will also have stockists in main centres throughout Aotearoa. Watch my social media (or sign up to my mailing list) for updates.

What happens if my pottery gets damaged in the post?

I package my work as thoroughly as possible using recycled and/or recyclable products. There is always a risk of breakage so if anything arrives damaged please take a photo of the broken item and the packaging immediately and contact me within 7 days so I can arrange a replacement or refund. At this stage I only ship within Aotearoa/New Zealand.

What if I change my mind?

The beauty of hand-crafted work is that no two pieces will ever be exactly the same. Each piece is created from scratch and they come with their own idiosyncrasies, beauty spots and character. The images and info on this website give a good representation of what you have bought BUT if what you receive is not what you want, AND you don’t have someone else to gift it to, then I’m happy to exchange or refund. I need you to contact me within 7 days, return the purchase in it’s original condition and you will need to cover the costs of the extra packaging and posting (including the sending out of any replacement work). If you prefer to see and hold my work before you buy it then please contact me to arrange a visit to my studio.

Are your pots food, dishwasher and microwave safe?

I have tested all of my glazes thoroughly and anything that you will eat off or drink out of is food safe. I put my cups and bowls through the dishwasher but these are hand-made pieces using materials that can vary in consistency so I cannot guarantee dishwasher durability - especially for the heavy handed. I don’t recommend using my pieces in the microwave.

Do you teach classes?

I only have space in my Parua Bay studio to teach one or two people at a time. For group classes, workshops and “casual clay” sessions in Whangārei, I recommend the Quarry Arts Centre.
